About

Awareness

As we are entering the new year of 2023, we believe it is still necessary and essential to avoid and actively fight against discriminations of all sorts and violations of personal boundaries. We want to cater for a better, more inclusive messenger community and events. The inclusivity of WTNB people, people of all ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ people as well as people with disabilities is still too often considered as a given in our community. We believe it is the role of event organisers and members of the community to improve the inclusivity of everyone — regardless of their identity — and to pursue the creation of safer spaces within messenge revents.

We thus ask you to come to the WCMWC with the upmost consideration for your fellow messengers and make it your responsibility to care for those in most vulnerable places. Let’s make it our responsibility for what happens throughout the event. Parties are particularly a moment when we ask everyone to act out of the most considerable behaviour for one another, whether you like to chistole hard or go to bed early.

As we all want to have a good time, an AwareMess (as initiated during the ECMC in Brussels) team will be present during all events and parties to answer your questions, offer support, find a safer space if needed or mediate a situation. If you are feeling unsafe, being harassed, or violated, or if you witness someone under these circumstances, please contact the awareness team, a phone number will be provided.

As such, any kind of sexist, racist, transphobic, homophobic, ableist comments or any shitty behaviour of any kind — be it physical or verbal — towards any individual will not be tolerated at the WCMWC, at all. Every incident will be treated according to the situation. We will however not hesitate to expel or suspend anyone who does not treat one another with respect from the event.

Again, we expect that you treat your fellow messengers with respect and care.

If you want to join the AwareMess team, please contact us at wcmwc@protonmail.com, your help is always welcome!

Love to you all <3

VALUES

Some may find them a bit cheesy, but we find it necessary and essential to state them and position ourselves. Again, we expect that you treat your fellow messengers with respect and care.

Inclusivity

We want these championships to be accessible to most and for everyone who participates to feel comfortable. Our goal is to create an event where competition is present, but not the main focus. We rather want to propose a weekend where the competition coexists equally with recreation, contact, fun and generosity. Again, we expect that you treat your fellow messengers with respect and care.

Gentle towards the environment

As we strive to organise an event that leaves no mark behind, we wish to commit to use as little fossil fuel, disposable cockery and non essential packaging or material aspossible. When preparing and hosting such an event, it’s always easy to give in on such principles for very pragmatic reasons. We will however do our very best. We also ask you to help us achieving this goal by bringing your own dishes, cutlery and mug if that’s possible for you. Additionnally, no meat or fish will be served during the event, only vegeterian and vegan options will be offered. We want these championships to be accessible to most and for everyone who particitpates to feel comfortable. Our goal is to create an event where competition is present, but not the main focus. We rather want to propose a weekend where the competition coexists equally with recreation, contact, fun and generosity. Again, we expect that you treat your fellow messengers with respect and care.

Respect

As said in our awareness statement, we wish our event to be inclusive of all identities. Moreover, we want to promote an active and radical feminist, anti-racist, anti-transphobic and anti-homophobic posture. We won’t tolerate any hate comments. Let’s all be respectful of our fellow messengers, friends, organizers and others. Let’s act out of care <3
